PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Oct. 17 (PNA) –- Criminal charges were filed before the City Prosecutor’s Office against a bus driver for the death of a seven-year-old child and the injury of another in this city, a police official said Friday.

Local police chief Supt. Glenn Dulawan identified the respondent in the charges as Ariel Lador, 46, driver of a bus owned by the Rural Transit Management, Inc. (RTMI).

Dulawan said the charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and serious physical injuries were filed against Lador on Thursday, a day after he accidentally ran over the victims.

Dulawan said the victims, both seven years old, were coming out of the school in Barangay Lumbia, this city, around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday when the RTMI bus with body number 9162 driven by Lador ran over them.

He said one of the two children died on the spot while the other one was admitted in the hospital.

He said the driver is temporarily detained at the lock-up cell of the local police headquarters. (PNA)
